Must Ketch Auditions

Must Ketch

Mystery. Crime. Justice. Seasonings.

Must Ketch is a thrilling crime-adventure story following the timeless duo of Ketchup, an ex-cop turned Private Eye, and Mustard, a brand new investigator with an upbeat attitude. Together, they’ll have to tackle the biggest crime syndicate in Condiment City; The Cabinet. Filled with edge-of-your-seat action, mind-blowing plot twists, and groan-worthy puns, this brand new musical by Joshua Kurtz and Damien Figueras is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family.

Audition Dates – Choose ONE of the two following to attend.
April 12th – 2:00PM
April 13th – 7:00PM

Callbacks – If we need to see you again, you must be available for;
April 14th – 5:00PM-10:00PM (be prepared to stay late if possible!)

Auditions will take place at the Aftershock Rehearsal Space – for more details, ask any Aftershock member, or message Joshua Kurtz.

Performance Dates – June 19th and 20th
at the beautiful Haddonfield Plays & Players.

If you can’t make it to the auditions, let us know- we’ll figure out an alternative.

What to prepare:
A comedic monologue, 30-90 seconds.
16-32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song – think impressive, but upbeat and fun. Bring a CD or iPod with back track.

Rehearsals will take place on average, 3 times a week, 2 times for most of the cast (3 for leads, and everyone as we get closer to the show).
Be prepared to have some fun, be flexible, and try new things!

Characters to Audition For – All ages wanted, from child to adult!
Ketchup: Baritone/Tenor, silly by virtue of how serious he is. Determined. Just. Troubled by a dark and mysterious past that will inevitably be revealed at a pivotal moment in the plot.
Mustard: Mezzo/Soprano, younger girl, silly by virtue of how silly she is. Bright. Passionate. Eager to learn, which is good, because she has a LOT to learn.
Cayenne: High Mezzo Belt, sinister leader of The Cabinet. Crazy. Power-happy. Maybe a little bit egotistical.
Mayor Mayonnaise: Male, flexible vocal range. The mayor of Condiment City. Follows the law to the letter- and makes the law the way he wants it.
Cinnamon: Male, flexible vocal range. A peacekeeper for Spice Town. Ready to lay down his life for the good of all- but also a fickle adventure-seeker.
Salt and Pepper: Flexible. A pair of minions to Cayenne. Bumbling and clumsy, but a force to be reckoned with.
Sugar: Female, flexible vocal range. A visitor from Candyland, come to cause trouble. Sweet (whoops), seductive, and sultry.

And a handful of other characters- many of which will have one person playing multiples of them. This includes…
Rosemary
Marie Rose
Thyme
Sage
Dill
Dijon
Assorted Salad Dressings
And many more! There’s plenty of room for a fun company in this cast.

Thanks so much- we hope to see you, and all of your friends, there!

Preemptive Self Defense

It sounds like a typical love story. Sophia and Maxwell were the best of friends growing up. As High School ends and they prepare to go their separate ways, they make a pact. If neither of them is married by the time they reach 30, they will marry each other. And that’s where “typical” ends. Because what happens next you won’t see coming.

Meant to BeMeant to Be is the latest Joshua Kurtz original musical to be produced by Aftershock. This truly unique piece will have you laughing, crying, cheering and booing, as a serial killer murders his way to the heart of the one he loves. Along the way, he’ll have to deal with cops, the CIA, the mob, and some of the most ridiculous nonsense you can put in a show without bringing in ghosts. On that note, no promises we won’t be bringing in ghosts.

Will he succeed? And if he does … will his love share the feelings for him that he has for her? Will they live happily ever after? Or is their love not … Meant to Be?

Sorry about that.

This show contains violence, excessive foul language, and strong suggestive themes. May not be appropriate for children. Children 17 and under should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Well … maybe we should rephrase that.  We’re not taking your stuff. We’re taking donations – old stuff you don’t need anymore that someone else might want.  Drop it off.  We’ll take it.  Then on June 7, we’re putting it all into a Yard Sale to benefit Aftershock.  Whatever we earn goes into putting on better performances for you!

So donate something.  Then come by to see if there’s something you want.  And stick around … there’s sure to be some impromptu performances.

There.   That’s better.

Adult Comedy Night

Join us for a night of Adult Comedy. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll – okay, no, you’ll probably just laugh.

Aftershock Entertainment’s improv troupe, “New and Improv’d” gets a chance to present an uncensored version of their always amusing improv games and skits. You get to suggest scenes, scenarios and lines for them to create original theater with.

You also have another opportunity to participate in the evening, as Aftershock reprises “Romanitquest”, a live action “choose your own adventure”. The audience gets to vote for the choices our actors make to bring you to a variety of different scenes and ending. If you missed this at Act by Act, you don’t want to miss it again. If you saw it at Act by Act, you may see totally new choices that weren’t picked before. You will also see several of our Aftershock Entertainers do hilarious stand up routines.

It is our pleasure to have Eli Wood headline this show, in the improvisation, RomantiQuest, and with his unbelievable stand-up act.

This is one event that you do not want to miss out on. But remember – there WILL be adult language, comedy and suggestive themes – we’re pulling out all the stops!  Parents strongly cautioned.  It’s highly recommended that children be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Concept to Curtain

Concept to CurtainCome on down to the second (annual?) joint venture between Aftershock Entertainment, and the Fusion Performing Arts Center; Concept to Curtain, a 24 hour play festival! What does that mean? It means you have exactly one day to write, direct and produce your very own one-act play!

FOR THE PERFORMERS
To participate is simple. Arrive at the Fusion Performing Arts Center at 5:00PM Saturday, April 12th, to register. Sign up costs $10, to cover food and housing for the night. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be split off into groups, and given a few specific details that your play must include. You will given a genre, a prop, a location, some specific lines that must be included, but aside from some guidelines, it is entirely up to you and your team what your play consists of.

The mall will be CLOSED from 9:30PM until 11:00AM. You are more than welcome to stay the night at the mall, and you are more than welcome to leave- but if you do leave, understand that you won’t be allowed back until 11:00AM the next day. You can get out while the mall is closed, not back in. If you are under eighteen and plan on staying the night, be sure to bring a parent with you to registration, as we’ll need them to sign a release form.

FOR THE VIEWERS
Your task is simple- Arrive at the Fusion Performing Arts Center at 5:00PM on Sunday, the 13th of April, and buy a $10 ticket. We can’t guarantee what the content will be in terms of ‘rating’, but we can guarantee it is going to be whacky and spectacular! It certainly was last year.

SO
If you want to participate, or just come out and watch, we’d love to have you! Spread the word, let’s make this the most successful 24 play festival we’ve done yet!
